§ 52. Mr. Hastingsasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what proportion of milk sold to the public is heat-treated in England and Wales, the county of London, English and Welsh counties, and county boroughs, respectively; and how these figures compare with a year ago.
Mr. Amory90 per cent. of the milk sold for liquid consumption in England and Wales during 1955 was heat-treated, compared with 88 per cent. in 1954. No figures are available of the proportion in counties and county boroughs, but it is known that in London the proportion of milk heat-treated has been almost 100 per cent. for some years.
