asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury the number of estates dealt with by the Estate Duty Office during the financial year 1954–55.

The number of duty-paying estates dealt with for the first time in 1954–55 by the Estate Duty Office was 69,539; the number of small estates on which no duty was payable was over 150,000.
