HC Deb 09 November 1955 vol 545 c202W
Mr. Beswick

asked the Minister of Supply if, in view of the fact that a large part of the promotional advertising by the aircraft industry is included in the costs of new aircraft to his Department, he will take steps to ensure that when entering into new contracts for the purchase of new aircraft the cost no longer includes that element created by the present newspaper advertising of operational aircraft.

Mr. Erroll

The cost of newspaper promotional advertising by the aircraft industry is not allowed in the prices of aircraft bought by the Ministry of Supply. Reasonable expenditure on advertising in trade journals alone is allowed.
