§ Major Lloyd-GeorgeThe main object of the recommendations of the Ready Committee on Welsh Language Publishing has been achieved in another way by the establishment, by the Welsh Joint Education Committee, with the support of my right hon. Friend the Minister of Education, of a scheme to stimulate the supply to local education authorities of Welsh books for use in schools. The total estimated expenditure by local education authorities in the five years beginning 1st April, 1954, is estimated at £107,000, of which about £64,000 will be reimbursed by the Exchequer by way of education grant.
