§ 69, 70 and 71. Mr. Fenner Brockwayasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies (1) if he will arrange, in consultation with the Governor of Nyasaland, that the principle of parity of representation between Africans and non-Africans in the Legislative Council be accepted;
(2) if he will arrange, in consultation with the Governor of Nyasaland, that all Africans who have passed standard III and have reached the age of 21 years shall be enfranchised under the new Constitution;
99W(3) if he will arrange, in consultation with the Governor of Nyasaland, that Africans be directly represented in the Executive Council.
§ Mr. HopkinsonMy right hon. Friend is at present in consultation with the Governor and would, therefore, prefer not to make a statement about any constitutional matters affecting Nyasaland for the time being.
