Mr. Footasked the Prime Minister whether he will institute an inquiry into the methods whereby information is given to the foreign Press by Government Departments, in view of the present practice of giving to foreign correspondents information which is denied to the British Press; and what steps he has taken to satisfy himself that there has been no leakage of such information.
§ The Prime MinisterI am assured that there is no practice in any Department of giving information to foreign correspondents which is denied to the British Press. The steps I have taken have been to ask questions of responsible people and weigh their answers.
