Mr. Errollasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, in view of the importance of A66 as a traffic route for heavy industrial loads passing between Lancashire and the North-East Coast, what steps he is taking to improve the road and provide adequate lay-bys, shelters, and similar facilities.
§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterI am at present considering what improvements are to be carried out on this road during the coming financial year. Among them I hope to include some widening and realignment of the existing carriageway in Yorkshire and the provision of two additional lay-bys in Westmorland.
