74. Brigadier Clarkeasked the First Lord of the Admiralty, if he will give an assurance that all Admiralty personnel employed in Simonstown dockyard will be offered equivalent employment in England or else given adequate compensation for loss of employment.
§ Mr. J. P. L. ThomasUnited Kingdom-based employees in Simonstown dockyard will return to Admiralty employment elsewhere unless they choose to serve under the South African Government after control of the yard is transferred. As Command Paper No. 9520180W shows, the great bulk of the locally-entered employees will be able to continue in their present work under explicit safeguards for their future. Any not required by the South African Government on taking over will receive at least the benefits to which they would be entitled at the time under the United Kingdom Superannuation Acts.
