§ 71. Mr. T. Reidasked the Minister of Health on what basis he allots priorities for the building of new hospitals, for which there is a growing demand; and what factors continue to prevent the building of a hospital for Swindon and district at a cost of about £4 million, the plans for which have long been approved and which has been postponed year after year owing to lack of funds.
§ Miss Hornsby-SmithThese priorities are decided according to the urgency of the need and the local circumstances of each area. It has not yet been possible to start building a new hospital for Swindon because other demands on the limited resources available have been judged too urgent to allow the commitment of so large a sum for this purpose.
