HC Deb 21 February 1955 vol 537 cc120-2W
Mr. Patrick Maitland

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General how far his Department has been successful in meeting the demand for telephones in the county of Lanark.

Mr. Gammans

Our ability to meet the demand at any particular moment must depend upon the number of new applicants which in the county of Lanark (excluding Glasgow) was last year an all time record figure of 2,504 as compared with 1,959 for 1952. 1,779 telephones were connected during 1954. We hope to supply over 2,000 this year
