Sir A. Bossonasked the Minister of Agriculture if he is aware of the continued anxiety of Kentish farmers over the worrying of their sheep by dogs; and if he will take steps to improve this situation.
Mr. AmoryYes. But there are signs that the position is improving. I understand that there were 85 prosecutions for sheep worrying offences in Kent last year, 53 of them under the Dogs (Protection of Livestock) Act, 1953. I hope that the continued enforcement of this new Act, together with the steps which my Department is constantly taking to remind dog owners of their responsibilities, will maintain the improvement.
