100. Mr. Watkinsasked the Assistant Postmaster-General to give consideration to the erection of a transmitter in Central Wales to enable listeners to have regional weather reports as well as information upon road conditions caused by floods or snow and ice and which would also provide a better reception of the Welsh Regional Service programmes.
§ Mr. GammansThe location of transmitters is primarily a matter for the B.B.C., but the Corporation advises me that, with the limited number of medium wavelengths available to it, a station in Central Wales would not appreciably help reception of the Welsh Home Service. Although the new V.H.F. station at Wenvoe will not, unfortunately provide a complete solution to this problem, it is expected to improve reception of the Welsh Home Service in a considerable part of Brecknock and Radnor, when it comes into service about the end of this year.
