79. Mr. R. Harris

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if the Nigerian Government have yet completed their studies on the Report of Mr. A. V. Thomas on the fire-fighting services in Nigeria; and what steps have been taken to implement the specific recommendation for the establishment of a fire service independent of the police.

The answer to the first part of the Question is "No," and to the second, "None as yet." I understand however that the newly formed Federal Government is expected to give early attention to the matter.
