§ 34. Mr. Hastings
asked the Under-Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations whether his attention has been called to a report of an official Government committee in India asking all foreign embassies to respect national sentiment concerning the use of intoxicants and of their own volition to refrain from serving liquor at receptions to which Indian citizens are invited; and what direction has been issued to the British High Commissioner concerning the matter.212W
§ Mr. Dodds-Parker
I am not aware that any decisions upon the recommendations of the committee to which the hon. Member refers have yet been taken by the Government of India. No question of issuing directions to the United Kingdom High Commissioner in India on the subject has therefore arisen.
