HC Deb 12 December 1955 vol 547 cc136-7W
106. Mr. George

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power if, in the national interest, he will issue a general direction to the National Coal Board to make a survey of areas of coal near the surface unlikely to be worked by the National Coal Board, and have advertised in the Press the fact that such areas exist, with a view to their being worked by free enterprise.

Mr. Geoffrey Lloyd

I will draw the attention of the National Coal Board to this suggestion, but I understand that the Board's plans already cover working all significant areas of this kind to the maximum practicable extent.
