§ 107. Major Anstruther-Gray
asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what is his estimate of the number of seals now breeding on the Fame Islands; and how this figure compares with the figures for 1945 and 1935.
The latest estimates are for 1953, when the total number of adult and young Atlantic grey seals in the Farne Islands was put at approximately104W 1,600. The corresponding figures for 1950, 1947 and 1938 were 1,300, 300 and 200 respectively. There are no figures available for 1945 and 1935.
