56. Mr. Jegerasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what progress has been made in the Port Development Scheme for Gibraltar.
§ Mr. Lennox-BoydI have now received the recommendations of the Governor of Gibraltar on the Port Development Scheme the main feature of which is the construction of a deep water berth. The plans involve the use of Admiralty installations and private works to ensure adequate bunkering facilities. There is also a proposal to construct a new water catchment area and storage space. The scheme is being considered with the other Departments concerned, and I will, if possible, make a further statement about it before the Christmas Recess.
