HC Deb 26 April 1955 vol 540 c51W
68. Mr. Driberg

asked the Minister of Defence if, in view of the Report from the Committee of Privileges, in which it is stated that a member of the Armed Forces is entitled to communicate with Members of Parliament on other than military matters, he will give an assurance that it remains the policy of Her Majesty's Government that, while it is desirable that the usual Service channels for the raising of complaints and grievances should be used wherever possible, Service men have an absolute right to communicate with Members of Parliament on all matters, including Service matters, so long as there is no disclosure of information that must be kept secret in the interests of national security.

Mr. Selwyn Lloyd:

Yes.
