§ Mr. Doddsasked the Minister of Health in view of the public concern at the substantial rise each year in the number of cases of cancer, if he will recommend the setting up of a Royal Commission to inquire into this disease.
§ Mr. Iain MacleodThe Medical Research Council is promoting and coordinating research on a large scale and in a wide variety of ways, and close relations are maintained with the British Empire Cancer Campaign and the Imperial Cancer Research Fund. I do not consider therefore that the appointment of a Royal Commission would be likely to be of any advantage in the exploration of this problem.
