108. Colonel Harrisonasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation what steps Her Majesty's Government propose to take in the near future to encourage the construction of underground car parks beneath squares in the West End of London.
§ 112. Mr. Russellasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation the present position regarding the proposals put forward nearly three years ago by the London and Home Counties Traffic Advisory Committee for building underground garages and car parks in central London.
§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterAs my predecessor announced on 23rd June in reply to a Question by my hon. Friend, the Member for Shrewsbury (Mr. Langford Holt), three firms of consulting engineers were appointed to prepare as soon as possible detailed plans and estimates for garages under Grosvenor Square, Cavendish Square and Finsbury Square respectively. These reports have just been received and are being studied.
