HC Deb 04 November 1954 vol 532 c62W
7. Sir G. Lloyd

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer when it is proposed to wind up the War Damage Commission.

Mr. H. Brooke

As my right hon. Friend stated in reply to the hon. Member for Sevenoaks (Mr. J. Rodgers) on 2nd March, no date has been fixed for winding up the War Damage Commission. It is still paying out substantial amounts in compensation, expected to total £28 million in 1954–55, and £21 million in 1955–56.
