HC Deb 03 November 1954 vol 532 cc43-4W
54. Mr. P. Roberts

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation to institute legislation to give him greater responsibility with regard to the hand-over of vehicles to private contractors by the British Transport Commission, in view of the evidence of sabotage of vehicles which the hon. Member for Heeley has sent to him.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

No, there is no need for legislation. I have asked the Chairman of the British Transport Commission for a report on the particular case which my hon Friend sent me, and I will write to him as soon as possible.
