HC Deb 28 May 1954 vol 528 cc53-4W
Mr. Paget

asked the Secretary of State for War what complaints he has received as to the conditions at No. 12 Families Hostel, Anlaby, Hull; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Head

There have been five individual complaints about conditions. We are limited in the permanent building that we can do and we have, therefore, to use a hutted camp for this hostel, which cannot be as attractive or comfortable as the permanent building that I should like to have. I have gone carefully into the complaints and I believe that the authorities are making the best of this accommodation to make the families comfortable. I do not think that the complaints represent the views of most of the families who have passed through.
