asked the Minister of Food what proportion of the imports of cereals and cereal preparations in the years 1948 to 1953, inclusive, were used as animal feedingstuffs.

Of the total imports of cereals and cereal products in the years 1948, 1949, 1950, 1951 and 1952 and the seven months from January to July, 1953, when the animal feedingstuffs rationing scheme ended, the proportions that were made available to the agricultural industry were 28 per cent., 31 per cent., 49 per cent., 46 per cent., 43 per cent., and 44 per cent., respectively.
