HC Deb 16 June 1954 vol 528 c148W
Sir A. Bossom

asked the Minister of Agriculture if he will institute a campaign against litter in the countryside, which is an especial danger after the week-ends and is liable to cause accidents to agricultural machinery.

Sir T. Dugdale

The Central Office of Information organises a campaign against litter and my Department is represented on the Committee that deals with this matter. Stress is laid in this campaign on the special problems of the countryside. The "Country Code," issued by the National Parks Commission, draws particular attention to the risks of damage to mower parts and other farm machinery from discarded tins and broken glass.
