§ 19. Mr. Haleasked the President of the Board of Trade how many applications have been received for the export of diesel generators to the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics; how many applications have been refused or deferred; and under what provision, rule or order such refusals or deferments have been made.
Mr. AmorySince 1st May, 1953, eight applications have been received. Four of them have been approved. A decision on two applications and on some of the goods covered by the remaining two has been deferred pending the completion of the review of security controls on which Her Majesty's Government are engaged in consultation with other Governments.

§ 20. Mr. Haleasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will circulate in HANSARD a list of all machinery or machine tools which his Department treat as non-permissible exports to the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.
Mr. AmoryNo. It has not been our practice to publish these strategic control lists, and now, while the lists are being reviewed, would not seem a suitable time to change this practice.
§ 21. Mr. Haleasked the President of the Board of Trade the total estimated wholesale value of orders in respect of which applications have been made to his Department in the period of 12 months to the most recent convenient date for licences to export material to the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, and which have been refused or deferred.
Mr. AmoryI regret that the information for which the hon. Member asks could be extracted only at the expense of an amount of time and labour which I do not think would be justified.
