HC Deb 13 July 1954 vol 530 c20W
73. Mr. Snow

asked the Secretary of State for War if he will investigate complaints, details of which have been sent to him, that personnel of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, No. 2 Base Workshops, Middle East Land Forces, are ordered compulsory sport while it is too hot to work; and in particular, the case of the soldier who died as a result of a route march in heat conditions.

Mr. J. R. H. Hutchison

I have been unable to trace the details referred to or any other similar complaints, but from inquiries I have made of this unit I can find no basis for this complaint or of the statement that a soldier died as a result of a route march.
