§ Sir W. Darlingasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer the number, or approximate number, of Civil Service pensioners resident in Scotland, distinguishing separately those who formerly served in the Postmaster-General's Department.
§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterMaterial is not available to give more than a very approximate estimate of the number of Civil Service pensioners resident in Scotland. Including widows and other dependants in receipt of pensions, the best estimate I can make is about 3,000 in addition to the pensioners of the Postmaster-General's Department.
The figure for the latter, which represents the number of pensioners who were serving in Scotland immediately before retirement, is about 5,400.
