HC Deb 26 January 1954 vol 522 c225W
95. Mr. Erroll

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power what his policy is regarding the development of salvaging sea coal from beaches adjacent to coalfields; and what contribution it can be expected to make towards the total output of coal in Great Britain.

Mr. Joynson-Hicks

The salvaging of coal from beaches cannot be expected to increase our coal supplies substantially and is best left as at present to local initiative unhampered by public control.
