HC Deb 24 February 1954 vol 524 c29W
14. Mr. Janner

asked the Minister of Food if he is aware of the bad quality of many potatoes at the present time and of the prices charged; and whether he will now control the price of potatoes.

Major Lloyd George

The general quality of the crop is high. Some stocks have been damaged by frost, but these should not be sold for human food and if they are the local food office should be told. Perhaps the hon. Member has overlooked the fact that prices have been controlled since 1939.
