HC Deb 20 February 1954 vol 689 cc245-6W
Mr. Hayman

asked the Minister of Transport whether he will request the Elder Brethren of Trinity House to con sider using Cornish granite for the new light and fog signals at Tater-du on the south side of the Land's End peninsula.

Mr. Marples

This is for Trinity House to decide, but I understand that for lighthouses on shore the practice for the past 60 years has been to use other materials whose initial and maintenance costs are much lower than those of Cornish granite.
