HC Deb 20 February 1954 vol 689 cc241-2W
Mr. A. Lewis

asked the Lord President of the Council and Minister for Science whether he is aware that with equal educational qualifications a public school boy gets a 1 in 4 chance of entering Oxford or Cambridge University whereas a grammar school boy only has a 1 in 20 chance; and what action he proposes to take to change this situation.

Mr. Hogg

The selection of students for admission to universities is a matter for the institutions themselves.
