Mr. Patrick Maitland

asked the Minister of Labour how many agricultural and horticultural workers, respectively, in the county of Lanark, registered for National Service during 1951, 1952 and 1953, respectively, under the National Service Acts; how many cases of either category were referred to the advisory panel; how many were granted deferment; and how many were called up.

There are no separate figures available relating to horticultural workers who, if they are employed on food production, are treated in exactly the same way as agricultural workers.
