§ 58. Mr. Hurdasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs to make a statement on the incidents on Falkland Islands territory which made it necessary to address the recent Note to the Argentine Government; and if a satisfactory reply has now been received.
§ Mr. TurtonThere have been no incidents in this area. Last August the Argentine Government promulgated a law which implied that the Falkland Islands and Falkland Islands Dependencies are under Argentine jurisdiction. On the 24th November Her Majesty's Government protested to the Argentine Government about this law, and on 15th December the Argentine Government replied with a Note in which they repeated their pretensions to our territory.
