Mr. Renton

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies how many people migrated from the United Kingdom to the Colonies between 1st January, 1946, and 31st December, 1953, inclusive; and how many migrated from the Colonies to the United Kingdom during that period.

I regret that complete information is not available from the Colonial Territories. Details of migration between the United Kingdom and Commonwealth Territories is availabel from United Kingdom records only for those persons travelling on ships sailing between the United Kingdom and ports outside Europe and the Mediterranean Sea. The following figures show the total of such persons excluding movements to and from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, India, Pakistan and South Africa.
