HC Deb 15 December 1954 vol 535 cc170-2W
Mr. Lewis

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will make a statement on his discussions with the Yugoslav economic delegation headed by Svetozar Vukmanovic, Vice-Chairman of the Federal Executive Council, and officials of the British Treasury, Board of Trade and Foreign Office, which took place in London on 25th and 26th November.

Mr. P. Thorneycroft

On his way home from Washington through London Mr. Vukmanovic recently paid me a courtesy call. In the course of general conversation covering a wide range of topics, including the expansion of trading opportunities between Yugoslavia and the United Kingdom, Mr. Vukmanovic stressed the financial problems facing Yugoslavia. Yugoslav officials also had useful informal conversations with representatives of the Treasury, Foreign Office and the Board of Trade about the possibility of increased collaboration between the two countries in the agricultural and industrial fields.
