HC Deb 15 December 1954 vol 535 cc139-40W
42. Dr. Stross

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what is the incidence of the venereal diseases among the Masai tribe in Kenya; and what medical provision is available for treatment of those who are infected.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

A survey of two small sections of the tribe carried out in 1950 showed an incidence of about 20 per cent. in males and 5 per cent. in females. Medical treatment by penicillin injections and other modern drugs is available at hospitals and dispensaries free of charge.
