HC Deb 15 December 1954 vol 535 cc154-5W
116. Mr. Mason

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation whether he has yet asked for applications to operate helicopter services within the United Kingdom.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

No. It is for operators to make application through the Air Transport Advisory Council for approval to operate such services. The Council's terms of reference specifically provide for their consideration of applications for helicopter services.

117. Mr. Mason

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation what experimental helicopter routes have been approved in the United Kingdom; and how many are operating at present.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

All the routes mentioned in my reply to the hon. Member's Question of 8th December have been approved for experimental operation. Two routes are being operated at present, namely, London Airport—Southampton and London Airport—Gatwick, the latter having started on 13th December.
