HC Deb 14 December 1954 vol 535 c114W
74. Mr. Hannan

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what progress has been made in establishing in Scotland a radioactive cobalt unit for the treatment of cancer similar to that recently opened at Bristol.

Mr. J. Stuart

The Western Regional Hospital Board expect to provide limited facilities for this type of treatment in the Western Infirmary within the next few months. They are also planning a major radiotherapy centre at the infirmary to provide extensive facilities for treatment by means of the cobalt beam and other radioactive substances, as well as for teaching and research in this field.
