§ 84. Mr. Bellengerasked the Secretary of State for War why qualified medical assistance was not given to Private Donald Hope, of the Lancashire Fusiliers, before his death; and whether he will make a statement.
§ 85. Mr. Fortasked the Secretary of State for War whether he has investigated the circumstances in which Fusilier Donald Hope of the Lancashire Fusiliers died suddenly on 25th November; and what consideration he has given to changes in the present system by which orderlies without, proper medical training are responsible for deciding whether or not recruits reporting sick should appear before a doctor.
§ Mr. F. MacleanA court of inquiry has been held and I shall receive the proceedings, with the views of the authorities, within the next few days. As soon as they are available they will be most carefully considered by my right hon. Friend, who will then be prepared to answer a Question on this subject.
