HC Deb 27 October 1953 vol 518 cc343-4W
65. Mr. Donnelly

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether he is aware of the damage caused at Amroth, Pembrokeshire, by the storms in September; and what steps he is taking to safeguard the village against encroachments by the sea during the coming winter.

Mr. Marples

Yes, and emergency measures to remedy the damage have been carried out. The Narbeth Rural District Council, who are the responsible coast protection authority under the Coast Protection Act, 1949, have in hand a scheme of permanent works, estimated to cost £49,000, to protect the western end of Amroth.
