Dr. HillIt was the policy of successive Governments to subsidise the price of sugar to the housewife and to recover part or all of the subsidy in the price charged for sugar for manufacturing purposes. In the free conditions now obtaining, which have been warmly welcomed on all sides, the price of sugar for manufacturing purposes, including brewing, has naturally been put on the same basis for all uses. There is no anomaly to remedy.
