HC Deb 26 October 1953 vol 518 cc324-5W
87. Mr. Teeling

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he has reviewed his regulations on the control of United Kingdom imports into China in view of the relaxations announced on 16th and 29th September by Japan regarding the 28 categories of goods whose imports to China by Japan is now to be freed.

Mr. Amory

Until recently the Japanese Government operated more extensive controls on exports to China than other countries. The modifications which they have recently introduced bring their controls into line. There is now no material difference between their controls and ours.
