HC Deb 26 October 1953 vol 518 cc315-6W
60. Mr. Sparks

asked the Minister of Food why the price of eggs is so high; and what are the prospects of supply to the domestic consumer during the coming winter.

Dr. Hill

The shops have ample supplies of eggs at prices varying between 3½d. and 5½d. each according to size and country of origin. Only top-weight English eggs cost more. Supplies this winter should be reasonably good.
