HC Deb 21 October 1953 vol 518 c265W
80. Mr. J. Grimston

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he will make a statement on the case of Ruth Shaw, an English girl, aged four years, whose mother has secured an adoption order in an American court against an order of a British court, which had ordered the return of the child to this country.

Mr. Nutting

Yes. An interlocutory decree of adoption in respect of Ruth Shaw was granted by a Miami Court on 17th September to the child's mother and stepfather, who reside in Miami. The final hearing of the case has been adjourned until 30th November, when the child's father will be legally represented.
