HC Deb 21 October 1953 vol 518 cc271-2W
Mr. Steele

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty what extra payment is made to staff transferred from Rosyth to Old Kilpatrick but employed on duties at Alexandria.

Mr. J. P. L. Thomas

The only Admiralty employee known to have been in these circumstances was transferred to Old Kilpatrick in 1952 and, as his family remained in Edinburgh, he received a lodging allowance of 7s. a night. While at Old Kilpatrick he was sometimes sent temporarily on detached duty to Tulli-schewan, near Alexandria, and on these occasions he received in addition subsistence allowance and payment for travelling time, as provided by the regulations. He has now been transferred from Old Kilpatrick to Tullichewan, where he continues to receive 7s. a night lodging allowance.

pay and pensions to executive civil servants by the Civil Service Arbitration Tribunal, he will now bring forward proposals to increase the retired pay of officers of the three Services.
