HC Deb 24 November 1953 vol 521 c20W
77. Mr. Parker

asked the Minister of Works whether St. Stephen's Hall can be cleaned down to bring it to the same standard of cleanliness now obtained in the Central Lobby.

Mr. Bevins

I hope to clean St. Stephen's Hall when the scaffolding is in position for the restoration work on the main arches and ceiling. The restoration of external stonework at the Palace of Westminster must, however, be done first and it is unlikely that we shall be able to start on the interior of St. Stephen's Hall before 1955.
