HC Deb 24 November 1953 vol 521 cc13-4W
34. Colonel Gomme-Duncan

asked the Secretary of State for War why, in the Army Estimates for 1953–54, the post of Progress Officer, Printing, is shown as temporary when, in fact, it is permanent; and why this post is necessary, since Army contracts for printing forms and books contain a clause requiring punctual delivery.

Mr. Head

The word "temporary" refers to the individual and not the post. The Army depends on a large number of printers; and direct liaison on a wide variety of matters in addition to punctual delivery has been found to be necessary.
