HC Deb 24 November 1953 vol 521 c17W
59. Mr. Remnant

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what advice he has given to local authorities as to the order of priorities for permanent accommodation which they should give to occupants of ex-Service huts, requisitioned dwellings and prefabricated houses.

Mr. Marples

By statute local authorities must give a reasonable preference in choosing their tenants to families living in bad conditions; subject to this only they can decide with their local knowledge which particular families ought to be given new houses first.
