HC Deb 17 November 1953 vol 520 cc136-7W
Mr. Ian Harvey

asked the Secretary of State for War what are the responsibilities of his Department, as opposed to those of the Air Ministry, for the organisation, control, equipment and maintenance of airborne troops.

Mr. J. R. H. Hutchison

The War Office is responsible for organisation, control, maintenance and ground training. The Air Ministry is responsible for the supply of aircraft and parachute training. Responsibility for the provision of airborne equipment is divided, but its scale is decided jointly.
